Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Professional Establishment I have been a member of Apple Federal Credit Union since the 90’s and have enjoyed this union ever since. If I ever had issues or questions about their services, a customer-friendly representative always provided professional knowledgeable support. There has never been question that I have asked that was not resolved. When I lost by job, they worked with me to lower my monthly payments, which was a tremendous help. I'm just the average customer, but the staff always been made feel important at any branch I visited or any phone call I made to the establishment. I would gladly and have recommended Apple Federal Credit Union to everyone I know.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome savings account I had my extra student savings account from ages 16-23 and it was so helpful. When I moved out of state, I almost switched banks but I couldn't find any with rates as good as this one. Being a young adult on my own, it was hard to keep money in my account after all the bills were paid, but seeing how much I earned even with my little amount in there made it worth it. I would recommend this account to anyone and everyone eligible! The app was easy to use and understand and the breakdown of my account was fun to see and helped me manage my money better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Relief for Educators & A+ for Apple FCU It used to be that teachers had a choice when it came to being paid in the summer; YES or NO. My school district does not give teachers the option to be paid in the summer. Apple FCU's Summer Pay program essentially takes care of that! Each month, Apple takes money from my paycheck and puts it in a special account. In the summer, the money is then distributed equally each month! I no longer have to worry about how I am going to cover summer expenses nor do I have to calculate the money during the school year. It is easy to start, easy to maintain and keep track of, and the staff at Apple FCU are incredibly knowledgeable about this program. I am continuously recommending it to all my fellow educators.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Feeling like a queen! I opened a savings account with Apple Federal about six years ago, when an offer was made at my school to receive money for the account for opening it. Each year, I add a bit to the account in order to prevent it from being closed. I have been treated very well every time I enter the lobby to make the deposit. The lobby is attractive, the clerks at the counter smile at me and help me with speedy professionalism. I receive a discount on my insurance due to the account, which is the main reason I opened the account. I am appreciative of the services of Apple Federal and the benefits from the account. I have only positive thoughts and comments. I am grateful for this avenue for savings.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Kid's Saving Account I'm a baby still, so I have no conception of the benefits of saving, or even money itself. In fact, I'm still illiterate and have barely managed a "Mama". That said, I'm well on my way to paying for my first car, or college, thanks to the easy way my parents can connect their accounts to mine and transfer gifts in. I don't know it yet, but I'm a pretty lucky little girl! The only problem Dad complains about is not having the account on the same page online as his own- he has to switch back and forth. If they'd fix that I'm sure he would have nothing but good things to say.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just Plain Easy The thing that I like about my accounts with Apple Federal is they are simple to work with. I can easily transfer money I have in one account to another account. It doesn't take as long as other banks either. The online platform is built very well and makes understanding your balance and account history easy. When I opened my account with Apple Federal they did not have mobile banking. I was very pleased with the mobile version that they released. It just like the web version is straight to the point without the unescessery clicking. I always turn to Apple Federal first when in search for a loan or other financial needs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Savings Account for Students This is a great way for students to save money and earn interest on their savings. Easy to use account, and easy to save any student earnings. Convenient access on line and in person at the many local branches in schools and around Fairfax County. As a mother and someone who has taught about financial skills in FCPS, I can honestly say this student savings account is a great way for students to learn the benefits of saving and to learn good financial management skills.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Waited for one hour I stopped by the branch to open a money market account (I'm an existing). There were 2 people ahead of me. But I had to wait 1 hour to get service. At that time, 2 teller windows were open without any customers. Why can tellers just open a money market account or have 1 of the tellers help with other "quick" services to move customers along ? Better yet, provide the ability to open money market account via the website. It will help reduce the foot traffic at the branch for things that can be done via the website. Once I got my turn for service, it was done quickly and took 5 minutes.

Why do I need to make a savings account? How come that doesn't automatically open when I make a regular checking accounts?

Asked by: Joyce
Because credit unions are member-owned, your regular Apple FCU Savings account is opened to represent your ownership stake in the institution. You're required to keep only a $5 minimum balance in this account.

Is it possible to have two separate Money Markets under the same account? I currently have a Savings and a Money Market and I'm wondering if the Savings can be changed into a Money Market account to yield higher interest.

Asked by: ukim
Yes, you are permitted to have more than one Apple FCU Money Market, though because its rate structure is tiered, you might benefit more by having it all in one account. As for your regular Savings account, it has to remain open since that's your ownership stake in Apple FCU. That said, its balance can be as low as $5.

What happens to your extra student savings when you turn 24? Does it turn into a regular savings account? Also does interest accrue annually or does it accrue monthly but but at 1/12th the annual APY?

Asked by: Ezra
Yes, upon aging out of the Apple FCU eXtras Student Savings, it is transitioned to your regular Savings. Dividends accrue monthly on this account; balances up to $1,500 earn the premium rate, anything $1,501 and greater earns the regular Savings rate. For rate details, visit

What is the apy for the savings account and does it change every time you deposit money

Asked by: Static josh
The stated APY (annual percentage rate) for a regular Apple FCU Savings is not tied to your balance; how much dividend you earn is however (the higher your balance, the greater the dividend). If you're interested in an account that earns a higher rate the more you have on deposit, check out an Apple FCU Money Market. For current rates, please visit

Is this account separate from a regular savings account? If so, how can I deposit money to my eXtra Student Savings Account?

Asked by: kenny_03
Yes, your Apple FCU eXtras Student Savings is a separate account from your regular savings. If you're making an electronic transfer from another person/financial institution, first login to Online Banking, click the gear wheel next to your eXtras Savings and locate your ACH Account Number. It's this account number you'll want to provide to ensure it's accurately routed. If you're making the deposit/transfer in person, on the phone or on your mobile device, simply select that as the To: account. Hope that helps!
